DEVOTION BY Mary Tisinger POSTED 5/18/2024 6:00:01 AM
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
2 Corinthians 2:14-15 NIV
I jabbed my wrist into my husband’s face. “Smell! This is what I want for Christmas!” The fragrance that lingers.
Two weeks before Christmas, we window-shopped in a huge mall. Earlier, I had stopped at a cosmetics display in the middle of the mall while my husband walked ahead. A delightful fragrance drifted around the counter, and I had to see what it was. After using the tester bottle to spray a tiny bit of the perfume on my wrist, I walked away.
But the fragrance stayed with me—and it smelled so good. Each time I sniffed my wrist, the fragrance smelled even better. I loved it. An hour or so later, I could still catch that scent. I hurried back to the counter to learn the name and cost.
That fragrance became my sole perfume then, and still is, many years later. People—even strangers—say to me, “Umm, what perfume are you wearing? You smell so good.”
Having Christ in our lives is like having a delightful fragrance sprayed on our wrists. Like the fragrance that lingers and becomes noticeable to others, Christ’s presence is the same in our lives. As we grow in our knowledge and service to Him, we become more like Him. We take on His attributes: goodness, kindness, mercy, love, and compassion. It’s like having a sweet aroma surrounding us. Others notice, see Christ in us, and are drawn to Him.
Let Christ bring that special fragrance that only He can give into your life. Others will notice and might even say, “Umm, what is that you’re wearing? You smell so good.”

RISE FROM THE ASHES
Several years ago, Christian Devotions came under cyber attack. Thanks to our readers we were able to rise from the ashes and be stronger than ever. Founded in 2008, Christian Devotions Ministries is a 501C3, non-profit organization striving to bring the light of Christ to others one devotion at a time. Thanks to the generous donations of our readers, this ministry thrives. Because of these gifts, we are able to provide benevolence when needed, spread the Word of God to over 157 countries, and offer new writers an opportunity to have their words published. This ministry is overseen by a board of directors and all who offer their time in service of this work are volunteers. Thank you for your kind support. Donations are tax deductible. This ministry thrives on the prayers of our readers. If you would like to be a prayer warrior for Christian Devotions Ministries, email us at christiandevotionsministries@gmail.com and we will add you to our prayer letter. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. - Psalm 19:14
