From Brokenness to Glory

For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills.  Deuteronomy 8:6-10

Before me loomed a mountain. Oh, it will be a short trip. Things will suddenly shift.  Life will return to its normal rhythm. I have interceded, fasted, stood against every demon in hell. Oh yes, it will be a short trip … has to be. Just let me teach again. To fill this void and pain in my heart. To feel worth and value again. To see lives touched once more.

But every door slammed in my face. My heart was bloodied in seeking my own way of restoration to a former glory. Father was taking me where I didn’t want to go so He could bring me to a place of His design—a place of greater glory. My lovely Shepherd was leading me the through the valley of the shadow in preparation for a sparkling new land—a land of milk and honey. He was guiding me to a land where I would eat food without scarcity and be blessed with a never-ceasing flow of oil.

Did I know this? No, for my feet dragged and my soul resisted every sharp turn in the road. I could have taken a shortcut, but His grace prevented such foolishness. Father knew. Father saw and many a day was spent on my face before Him. I was in a chrysalis. Father was hiding me in His quiver and creating me into a polished stone. He was making me His.

And so, beloved, do not focus on your journey though it be harsh and full of thorns. The Shepherd is leading you through the brambles and over Jordan into your promised land. He’s making you His. He’s calling your name. He sees the storm, but He’s not asleep. The shore is just around the bend. Only cling to the lover of your heart. And though the vision tarry, surely it will come to pass. Father is not restoring you to your past but bringing you forward to double honor and blessing. Be encouraged today, dearly beloved.

Our sweet Margie went home to be with the Savior she so adored earlier this month. We will miss her thought-provoking and spirit-filled devotions. Without a doubt, she is dancing around the feet of Jesus. Thank you, Margie, for years of faithful service. May your mansion be filled with joy. – The staff of Christian Devotions Ministries
